Afghan authorities suspect criminals, not militants, kidnapped an Italian woman aid worker, snatched from her car on a street in the centre of Kabul.
Clementina Cantoni, 32, who works for the Care International aid agency, was kidnapped after the vehicle in which she was travelling in Kabul was intercepted and blocked by another car.
Three UN workers were kidnapped by criminals in Kabul last year and held for 27 days before being released.
