5. Sales of David Bowie's Blackstar album - released two days before his death - reached 43,000 in his homeland of Britain, the Guardian reports. More than half of the UK's top 40 chart feature Bowie's back catalogue. Spotify says there have been more than 6.5 million listens of Bowie's music since his death. The singer's funeral is expected to be in New York, where he lived, and the city's Carnegie hall will host a memorial concert on March 31.
6. German police have arrested 211 people after a new far-right riot in Leipzig and the Government says it will make it easier to throw out foreign criminals and strip sex attackers of refugee status. "We will tighten criminal law to make deportation easier," Justice Minister Heiko Maas said. Police in Cologne say 553 criminal complaints have been filed by women and 45 per cent are for sexual assault.
7. Canadian helicopter pilot David Wood has died while working with the Australian Antarctic division after falling 20m down a crevasse.
8. A Scottish couple have won half of the UK's 66 million pound lottery jackpot. The couple from the Scottish borders will take home 33 million pounds. The unknown joint winner has until July 7 to claim the rest.
9. Archaeologists have hailed a 'bronze-age Pompeii in Peterborough' which gives an unprecedented view of life 3000 years ago. Two houses were destroyed by fire and then trapped in silt and mud at what is a quarry site. Domestic objects such as jars, cups, daggers and jewellery have been found. There is also a cooking pot with a wooden spoon and the remains of a meal left in a hurry when the fire started.
10. A man dubbed the world's oldest Mafia don by the Italian press has hosted an extravagant 100th birthday party, the Daily Telegraph reports. Procopio di Maggio has long been regarded as the head of Cosa Nostra in a town in Sicily.
