It's not always the big ticket items like sewerage, roading and future governance which provide talking points for local authorities.
The latest resource management report for Masterton District Council is an excellent case in point.
Under the heading of inspections and reports we learn feral cats have become a cause of concern in the district and officers are presently involved in trapping these animals at the request of affected property owners.
Apparently these cats, many of them diseased, are destroying the bird life in council parks and residential properties and also fouling the latter.
The purchase of two traps and the setting of them over 10 days resulted in 12 wild cats being trapped. By the way, feeding these cats is said to be an absolute no-no for the public.
