The Wairarapa Community Orchestra is seeking new members.

Rehearsals will begin at 7pm on Thursday, January 28 at 10 O'Clock Cookie Cafe in Masterton for its Coffee, Cake and Classics concerts on April 1 and 2.

Conductor Ruth Eckford said the concerts are proving so popular "we have decided to hold two concerts to accommodate people comfortably". She said they welcome new players.

"I'd especially like to build our string sections. I arrange the music to suit the players' abilities so if you are a regular or an occasional player or have an instrument languishing in a cupboard we'd welcome you to join us."

Orchestra members range from senior secondary school students to retirees.

She said the orchestra is fortunate to have a strong base of experienced musicians to support those who are building their skills.

The Coffee Cake and Classics concerts will feature light classical and popular music that is fun to play and listen to, she said.

Rehearsals are usually at 7pm on Tuesday at 10 O'Clock Cookie Cafe in Masterton.

The orchestra will hold another concert later in the year and rehearsals will begin about 10 weeks ahead of the concert.
