South Wairarapa councillors will be mulling over 260 issues raised by 85 people or groups after the council's draft long-term plan closed for feedback last week.
More than 30 people will be heard in person by the council on Monday and Tuesday, asking for support on everything from EnviroSchools to the Masterton Motorplex. Popular issues were the Martinborough Town Hall, with some still questioning the $900,000 proposed spend on earthquake strengthening, and the Regional Amenities Fund, which would see the council chip in money for a regional fund for arts, culture and environmental attractions.
Many organisations have asked for further financial support: Cobblestones Trust for $10,000 per year over the next three years, Toi Wairarapa for an extra $5000 per year, Masterton Motorplex for $25,000 and Aratoi an extra $3000.
Some new ideas have also been raised, such as a biennial region-wide Wairarapa Arts Festival and free wi-fi for every town.
Hearings will be held at the district council chambers from Monday starting at 9.30am.
