Year of the Rooster celebrations at waterfront

Celebrations marking the Chinese Year of the Rooster start at noon this Saturday, with the Asian Market at Shed 6 on Wellington's waterfront. At 3pm a street parade starts in Courtenay Place, wending its way to Frank Kitts Park, where entertainment includes a spectacular display by acrobats from Beijing. The day winds up with a fireworks display on the waterfront at 10pm. Other events take place at Civic Square on Sunday, and at Te Papa and Wellington Zoo February 6-11. A kite festival will be held at Alex Moore Park in Johnsonville on Sunday February 13.
