Yaas Queen: Air NZ flight attendant's Drag Race tip off

It's a little known fact that pilots can request sports scores from the ground when they're on a plane without WiFi or television – but sometimes, flight attendants get a tip off that makes you go "yaaass queen".

On a recent Air New Zealand flight, the winner of this year's RuPaul's Drag Race was revealed to a fan in the cabin crew.

An image shared on Twitter – which has since received 24,000 likes – shows a message from crew control to flight staff on-board the airline's NZ90 service from Tokyo to Auckland.

"Hi Peter/Luke and Darren, please pass this ACARS onto ISM Ben Whatman," it reads.

"As requested winner for Drag Race 2018 is….. Aquaria….

"Safe flight home. Thanks. Brandon. Crew Control."

While the image was shared by a flight attendant in the US, who said he found it on a Facebook group for flight attendants, Ben himself has come forward on Twitter – sharing a selfie of himself with the message.

Air New Zealand also responded to the message on Twitter, writing "We do what we can #YaasQueen".

While it wasn't available on this particular flight, Air New Zealand has started rolling out in-flight WiFi on its international flights – so everyone can follow reality tv results at 35,000 feet.

The Kiwi airline has four Boeing 777 aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi, mainly on transtasman routes as well as Nadi, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Buenos Aires.

While its original price tag of $40 per sector drew outrage from passengers, it has since been dropped by ten dollars.
