It is "Lights, camera, action, Wiggles" at Dreamworld with the Gold Coast theme park set to be home to Australia's world-famous children's pop band, the Wiggles.
From September, Queensland children will be the envy of thousands of ankle-biters around the world as their singing and dancing idols drive their Big,
Red Car into Dreamworld's new Wiggles World attraction.
But while Queenslanders will have the greatest access to the four guys in the blue, red, yellow and purple skivvies, the Wiggles' general manager Mike Conway said the theme park would provide a great opportunity for fans from around the world to see stars.
"While anyone who lives up the road is going to have that access more easily, anyone who's got an opportunity to visit the park is fortunate," said Conway, adding the Sydney-based band plans to appear regularly at Wiggles World.
"The style of the park and our style is very similar - it's very informal, very Aussie, very laid back, so we really hit it off."
But the Wiggles do not have any ambitions to create the next Disneyland.
"We don't know anything about theme parks. We're just a small component of what Dreamworld already does well," Conway said.
Dreamworld chief executive Stephen Gregg said the licensing agreement with the Wiggles would boost the theme park's popularity.
"It's a major coup for the Gold Coast as a tourist destination, a way to wiggle into the overseas market," he said.
While official plans for Wiggles World are under wraps until later in the year, all their special friends, including Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, and Captain Feathersword, will definitely be involved.
The Wiggles - Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt - have won a clutch of Australian music awards, including three Arias and three APRA song writer awards.
The band has sold more than 17 million DVDs and videos, and five million CDs and cassettes worldwide.
