Do you travel light or heavy?

I tend to pack heavier than necessary. Somehow I'm able to justify adding things to my list; "I'm sure I'll use that for... um, whatever."

Cattle or first class?

I've never travelled first class and, unless someone else is paying, probably never will.

I can't travel without...

Checking I've locked the front door (at least three times).

What's always in your hand luggage?

Deodorant - there's nothing worse than being trapped on a plane and smelling like you've just spent an hour in the gym. It may also help mask the strange smell emanating from the person next to you.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

A nifo'oti and talavalu (traditional weapons) from Samoa. My nana helped me choose them while I was visiting there for a family reunion.

Favourite or most exciting airport to land in?

I've landed in quite a few airports around the world, yet nothing is ever as exciting as landing in Wellington on a windy day.

Best packing tip?

Pack light at home so you can bring back more from overseas. Oh, and you don't need that second pair of jeans.

Most memorable trip?

It would have to be New York in 2001. I was awestruck. After years of watching films based in the Big Apple, it was so cool to see it all up close and personal.
