Weekender: The Ladi is coming to town

Hip-hop and soul queen Ladi6 has been touring her award winning 2017 album Royal Blue 3000 around New Zealand on her Outta Time tour, and she is set to get the Mount's Totara Street bar grooving on Saturday night. Stars and lights

Auckland's North Shore will sparkle and glow this weekend when Stellar returns to Smales Farm for its fourth year. Featuring interactive light installations from Angus Muir Design, this year, the three-night free Matarikievent will showcase installations created by local schools too. Guests can also expect workshops for children, food from Food Space's Puna Kai inspired by traditional Māori kai alongside other food trucks, and a zone of interactivity and light design on the ground floor of the new B:Hive building. 72 Taharoto Rd, Smales Farm, Takapuna, Friday, July 13 to Sunday, July 15, from 5pm. Bay of Plenty Lego fans have just two more weekends to see the Brickman Wonders of the World exhibit at ASB Baypark in Mt Maunganui. The interactive show features more than 50 miniature plastic brick versions of famous landmarks, such as the Empire State Building, Mt Rushmore and the Great Wall of China, as well as Lego replicas of iconic items including the Mona Lisa, Michelangelo's Statue of David, London's subway map and a VW Beetle, all created by Australian Lego Certified Professional Ryan McNaught. Glow hard

Wrap up warm and head into Wellington's Ōtari-Wilton's Bush next Friday night on a guided bush walk to its glow-worm caves. You'll learn how they cast sticky nets to catch midges, and you'll also get a closer look at the botanic garden's tree ferns, rimu, epiphytes, rātā and eels. Wear good shoes and bring a torch; children welcome if accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Ōtari Information Centre, 160 Wilton Rd, Wilton, Wellington, Friday July 20, 7pm-8pm.
