Waihi wheels out its best

Sample locally made ice cream, relax with massages and healing oils, taste local produce, admire the talents of smart businesspeople and the artistic creators of everything from sculptures to paintings.

Waihi is holding a three-day showcase - "Made in Waihi" - on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 24, 25 and 26.

Businesses on display range from one that makes travelling tents for cats to another that supplies gold to dentists.

An art market will be part of the free event, and the festival style of the three days includes face painting, food stalls and lunchtime music.
