World’s wildest cheese chase
Would you chase a wheel of cheese down a dangerously steep hill? Apparently, thousands of people in England would. The Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling returns to Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester on May 25, 2026, bringing one of Britain’s strangest and most chaotic traditions back for another year.
The unofficial event involves competitors chasing a wheel of double Gloucester cheese down a 180m slope where speeds can reportedly reach up to 128km/h. Separate races are run for men, women and children, with no registration required for adults willing to take the risk. Injuries are common, but the centuries-old event continues to attract competitors and spectators from around the world. Discover more at visitcheltenham.com

Travellers can now stay closer to vineyards, olive groves and national parks with Tiny Away’s latest expansion into Italy. The company has introduced five new tiny homes across regional Italy, offering a slower alternative to the country’s busier tourist routes.
The new stays stretch from the olive groves of Lazio, near Rome, to the coastline of Campania, near the Amalfi Coast, and mountain settings in Calabria, countryside escapes in Puglia and vineyard landscapes in Tuscany. Each location focuses on slower travel, with access to farm life, walking trails and smaller communities rather than major attractions. For more information and bookings, visit tinyaway.com
