Andy Murray: The Cromlix Hotel
Tennis star Andy Murray has invested millions into his luxury Scottish hotel after purchasing the sprawling estate in 2012. Housed in a Victorian country house, the hotel offers a full Scottish breakfast, Egyptian cotton linens, fishing on a private loch and, of course, a tenniscourt.

Hugh Jackman loved this Gold Coast bush hideaway so much he invested in it and built his own house next door. The retreat focuses on organic living, spa treatments, movement and relaxation and holds regular "vital wellness seminars" in a "dedicated low tech environment". Sounds like the perfect escape from Hollywood.

Abba's Benny Anderson bought this 1930s Art Deco cinema turned boutique hotel in Stockholm in 2003. While it's not quite "Abba-themed", each room contains one of the group's CDs in its music collection and the occasional band poster features among the hotel's signature cinematic poster decor. Mamma Mia premiered at the hotel's cinema as well.
Robert Redford: Sundance Mountain Resort

Founded in 1969, Redford's resort is located on the picturesque slopes of Mt Timpanogos in Utah and as well as skiing, offers river rafting, horse riding and fly fishing. The actor envisioned the resort as a "community committed to the balance of art, nature and community". The Sundance Institiue was founded here in 1981, as was the Sundance Catalog in 1988. This beautiful canyon has been the inspiration for many visiting writers, directors, actors and artists.
Leonardo DiCaprio: Blackadore Caye
Well-known as an environmental activist as well as an actor, DiCaprio purchased Blackadore Caye as 42ha of overgrown, unpopulated land off the coast of Belize a decade ago. Last year, he joined forces with a developer to transform the land into a luxury, eco-conscious resort. It opens to guests in 2018.

The Cypress Inn has been co-owned by actress and singer Doris Day for over 20 years. Her love for animals is evident in its titles as the "pet friendliest" inn in what is reportedly the "pet friendliest" town in America. Located in Carmel-by-the-Sea, the boutique hotel has been a landmark of the area since 1929.

Just down the road from Doris Day's Inn is Clint Eastwood's offering, located on a former dairy ranch that dates back to 1800. A longtime resident of Carmel, Eastwood saved the landmark ranch from being developed into condos. The property now consists of 31 hotel rooms located within ten buildings.
Kate Pierson: Lazy Meadow Motel

Kate Pierson, former singer of the B52s, opened this crazily camp motel in 2004, taking on a collection 1950s cabins in Mt Tremper, New York State, in the Catskill mountains. The lodgings are decked out in mid-century stylings with over-the-top decorations and 50s amenities. Also included are DVDs and VHS players, with a "unusual selection of films". There's even a West Coast edition, Kate's Lazy Desert Airstream Motel, where guests stay in vintage airstreams restored by artists and designers.
