Take the alpine scenic route

The Alpine Pacific Triangle touring route links three popular Canterbury destinations - Kaikoura with its whale watching, the alpine thermal village of Hanmer Springs and the Waipara Valley wine region.

The 370km route passes through spectacular alpine and coastal scenery, hugging the coast on SH1, then cutting inland on either SH7 at Waipara or SH70 near Kaikoura.

There are many activities and attractions en route and a variety of accommodation options.
