Bed: King-sized with a feature headboard and 300-thread count linen and down duvet and pillows. I slept soundly and awoke refreshed.
View: The fancy houses perched on the Hollywood Hills, and the comings and goings of the Sunset Strip.
Bathroom: A small space, with separate dressing table, shower cubicle and huge mirror that replicates the shape of the looking glass. It looked very stylish but wasn't particularly functional — there was no soap dish for the bar soap, which made for a bit of a mess on the counter-top.
Toiletries: Ciel, from the spa of the same name, available only at SBE Hotels.
Facilities: The pool looks incredible, but you'll have to be quite confident to use it — it's a real magnet for young, beautiful things who are there to see and be seen. Weekend afternoon parties see people queuing down the block to get in — many of the women already wearing their teeny, tiny bikinis. It's a real inflatable unicorn pool-party kind of vibe, and if you don't know what I mean, check out the Skybar's Instagram page.
Food and drink: There's onsite restaurant Ivory on Sunset, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as the aforementioned Skybar, plus a Lobby Bar.
Wi-Fi: Free and fast.
Entertainment: People-watching by the pool? Otherwise you're just steps away from the Sunset Strip and its bars, restaurants, clubs and shops.
Noise: A bit of street noise at night. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs.
Perfect for: Young, beautiful things; those who don't like wearing many clothes; anyone wanting to feel like a celebrity in West Hollywood.
