Smoothing the holiday path for disabled

A modified vehicle and personalised tours are part of the Gold Coast's See More Scenic Tours service, aimed at making holidaying as easy as possible for the disabled.

Tour operator Terry Umstad offers packages which include meeting people at the airport or railway station, arranging accessible accommodation and meals, and tours on a mini-coach fitted with a wheelchair hoist - though the tours are not exclusively for people with disablities.

An example of one of the tours is 10 nights' accommodation in beachfront high-rise apartments in Surfers Paradise, all meals, a five-day tour and transfers from Coolangatta Airport for $A1820 ($2275).
