The guided tree walks through Auckland's Cornwall Park are becoming so popular the organisers have been forced to keep the departure times something of a secret.
"We used to advertise what time the walk started, but about 100 people turned up last time, and that's just too many," said thepark's visitor centre manager, Ruth Gruet.
Now, if you want to take the two-hour free walk and learn about the trees from forestry consultant Mike Wilcox, bookings are essential.
There are four walks each year. The next is on December 12.
