Ohope-based Pacific Adventures offers two- or three-day cycle tours that start at Opotiki and end at New Zealand's most easterly point, the East Cape lighthouse. Longer tours continue to Gisborne.
Fitness is not a major requirement as the bikes are excellent, there's a support wagon, and the pace is leisurely.
