Tess Nichol stays at the Waitui Beach Club at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa.
Background: The Waitui Beach Club is a recent adults-only addition to the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa. The exclusive area has an infinity pool, ample luxury seating for lazy afternoons, a Champagne bar and a restaurant.
Check-in experience: Very classy - Waitui guests have their own special check-in room atthe Sofitel, where you can sit down while you give your details. A staff member greets you with a shot of juice and a fresh cold flannel.
Rooms: A tiny home away from home. Kitted out with everything you'd expect at a five-star hotel from a mini bar to dressing gowns and slippers, the Waitui Beach Club access rooms also boast a Bose iPod deck and fancy Pure Fiji toiletries.
Nippers: Kids under 16 are not allowed at the Club, but families can book into the main part of the Sofitel.
Price: Around $600 for a night in a Waitui Beach Club access room. These rooms are in a designated part of the hotel, further away from the main pool and restaurant area.
Bathroom: Standard hotel bathroom.
Food and drink: This is where the benefits of having access to the Beach Club really come into play - every night from 5pm-6pm, the club provides guests with free cocktails to enjoy in the adults-only pool area by the beach to watch the sun go down. Bubbles and beer are also an option. Free canapes are also provided; tiny little pizzas and rolls of delicious tuna sushi.
The bed: Big and soft, and the staff slip in in the evening to turn back the covers for you.
