Alex Robertson stays in Ogden, Utah, at Courtyard by Marriott.
Location: Just one block back from Historic 25th St and close to restaurants, shops, bars, coffee, museums and transport hubs. Pretty much ideal.
What's in the neighbourhood: The old Union Pacific Building is a two-minute walk with an art gallery, cafe, bar and rail museum. 25th St is a blockaway packed with antique shops, boutique stores, restaurants and bars. Heart of the city stuff.
The style: In the process of being remodelled when I visited. The 1960s buildings were being bulldozed, while the recently built facilities are in red brick to match the surrounds. Comfortable, but with a bland interior, as you would expect from a business-traveller focused hotel.
Room: Spacious and well-appointed with low-key decor, satellite TV, mini bar, lounge area and wireless internet.
The bistro offers a full-on cooked breakfast as well as an on-the-go quick fill, and limited evening meals and cocktails.

Exercise:
Gymnasium, pool and hot tub (whirlpool) with towels provided. Very popular with families and great for that post-piste soak after a day on the mountain.
