Queenstown's winter wonderland

Queenstown is gearing up for July, when the annual Queenstown Winter Festival will turn the town and the nearby ski slopes into one big party venue.

The 10-day event - now in its 28th year - will offer visitors extreme snow sports, street parties, wild and wacky events and glamorous evening parties.

On the agenda from July 12 to 21 are attractions such as the World Snow Sculpture competition, the Mountain Bikes on Snow Downhill Race, the Peak to Peak Adventure Race, a mardi gras, beer fest and festival parade, and the Great Comedy Debate.
