Sarah Atkinson checks into a Superior Lakeview Room in NZ's geothermal heartland
Getting there: I flew in from Auckland and pre-booked the 25-minute trip into town via Super Shuttle.
Check-in experience: Easy and with a smile.
Room: The Superior Lakeview Room with private balcony overlooks beautiful Lake Rotorua. I woke early to enjoy a stunning sunrise over the lake.
The hotel is incredibly cosy as it harnesses its own natural geothermal resource.
Price: You'll pay around $209 a night.
What's in the neighbourhood? The Polynesian Spa and Government Gardens are just across the park and Eat Streat is only a couple of blocks away.
To explore further, check out the local i-Site, or you can book activities through the hotel.
Toiletries: Everything you'd need and expect. I was left wanting for a robe, as I had envisaged that sweet #robelife.
Food and drink: Continental or full buffet breakfast served indoors, poolside, with espresso coffee. Perfect start to a day in Rotorua.
The bed: A comfy king bed, which all five foot two of me starfished across.
Bathroom: All necessary amenities including a bath, which I enjoyed with bubbles.
Free Wi-Fi? Yes, unlimited.
Noise: No noise and I managed an uninterrupted sleep.
Perfect for: Road-trippers, passing-through corporates, families, or couples.
