Plane: A very tidy Air New Zealand Boeing 767-300 - this winter the plane is being upgraded to a Dreamliner.
Class: Economy.
On time? Scheduled for a 1.30pm departure from Auckland but we were delayed by 35 minutes as a passenger on the previous flight needed assistance getting off the plane.
However, we made up some time in the air and arrived in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City just 15 minutes later than expected.
My seat: 10K
Fellow passengers: The plane was not too full, and what fellow passengers there were seemed very relaxed. One man I spoke to was returning to explore Vietnam off the beaten track.
Entertainment: The usual wide selection of movies, TV shows and games on seat-back screens.
Service: I couldn't have been happier with the in-flight service. The crew were very attentive and friendly.
Food and drink: Good quality, with plenty to go around. I got hungry as there was a long wait between lunch and dinner because of the long flight time, but the staff offered me plenty of snacks and drinks.
Toilets: Clean and fresh.
Luggage: We had a luggage allowance of 23kg, which left me a spare 10kg thanks to light packing for a warm holiday. There was plenty of room in the overhead bins for carry-on luggage.
The airport experience: At Auckland's international terminal we were helped by an Air New Zealand crew member who gushed about the great experience he had on the same trip as us. It was good to get first-hand feedback. There was some confusion about our pre-arranged access to the Koru Lounge, but we got in eventually.
Would I fly this again? Yes - it was very comfortable; everything you need for a long-haul flight.
