The best holiday I've ever had was ...

This past Christmas and New Year at Dream Cove, Vanuatu. Amazing weather, swimming, wakeboarding, fresh seafood, and proposing to my partner Jess.

And the worst was ... in Tonga. It rained the whole time and we were stuck on a resort island. We were served a potato chip with a cube of salami and Watties tomato sauce which the waiter introduced as our amuse bouche, followed by a ham sandwich.

With endless time and money I'm off to ... either Hoi An in Vietnam or Hawke's Bay.


My best travel advice is ... Travel somewhere by yourself. It builds character.

I never leave home without ... A first aid kit. I have several - one in my car, one with my fishing gear and one with travel gear. They have all been used several times, mostly on other people, I might add.
