Some of New Zealand's most luxurious stays have received accolades at the Luxury Hotel Awards this weekend.
The Residence, which belongs to the George Hotel in Christchurch, was named the top luxury hotel villa in Australasia at the awards ceremony in Qatar on Saturday.
A recently renovated 1950s building adjacentto the main hotel, the Residence's three bedrooms can be rented individually or together as a private villa.
The Heritage Christchurch also received a regional award in the luxury historical hotel category.
The hotel, housed in a 103-year-old Old Government Building on Cathedral Square, reopened in 2013 after suffering some damage in the 2011 earthquake.
Gary Jarvis, group operations manager of Heritage and CityLife Hotels New Zealand, said the award was an "amazing achievement" and that guests responded well to the "elegant century-old building".
Queenstown also featured heavily, with three hotels in the area receiving regional awards.

Eichardt's Private Hotel was named New Zealand's best luxury suite, while its sister hotel The Spire was named New Zealand's best luxury romantic hotel.
Imperium Group owner Andrew Cox said he was "absolutely thrilled" by the recognition.

"We are honoured to represent New Zealand on an international stage as luxury tourism continues to soar both here and abroad."
Arrowtown's Millbrook Resort also received a regional award in the luxury spa hotel category.
Brian Howie, Millbrook Resort Director of Operations, said his team was delighted to be recognised by the awards.

The resort offers a day spa, four restaurants and a 27-hole championship golf course that is host to the ISPS Handa NZ Open.
In Auckland, Sky City Grand received a regional award in the luxury contemporary hotel category.
