My holidays: Shweta Tomar

Shweta Tomar wants to travel to Norway to see Aurora Borealis do its magic in the sky.

What was your greatest holiday?

Road trip across South Island. It was magical! Drove through the West Coast from Picton, Nelson, Franz Josef Glacier, Queenstown, Te Anau, Milford Sound, Lake Tekapo, Christchurch. The beauty of New Zealand takes my breath away. Sri Lanka and my home country India are two stunningly beautiful countries to visit as well.

And the worst?

Can't really say I've had any that bad. Even when they go against plan they turn into adventure and fun starts again.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

Something outdoors, taking pictures, getting blown away by how big and beautiful this world is. And trying out the local flavours of food for sure!

What's your dream destination?

Norway. I want to sleep in those glass igloos and watch the Aurora Borealis do its magic in the sky.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?

Not learnt how to pitch a tent and book a campsite. Luckily there was help around.

What will you always have in your hand luggage?

Music and my camera.

... a comfortable pair of shoes.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

This was in Ladakh in Kashmir (India). The landscape was crazy beautiful. The mountains shone like gold because of some metallic (shimmery) mineral in them... copper-like. I was mesmerised. I picked up this tiny stone that still has that shine and I always have it with me when I'm travelling. It reminds me of that day and makes me feel like I have a piece of that magic with me always.

Favourite airport to land at?

New Delhi T3. It's where home is.

What's the next trip you've got planned?

I just got back from a big holiday so next year maybe Oz or Fiji. But a short getaway is on the cards next month to keep me going. I want to see the Pacific and Tasman meet at Cape Reinga. Beauty!
