My holidays: Nic Graham

What was your greatest holiday?
Probably my European vacation; the highlight was two weeks in Sicily.

And the worst?
I don't know if I've ever had a worst holiday experience. A holiday isn't a holiday unless it's good. I couldn't actually say that I've had a really bad holiday.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?
Eating.

If we could teleport you to one place in New Zealand for a week-long holiday, where would it be?
Queenstown.

How about for a dream holiday internationally?
A dream holiday for me right now would have to be Madrid.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?
I'm very good at missing my flights by not comprehending the 24-hour clock.

Aisle seat or window seat?
In my youth I used to always want the window seat, but now I prefer an aisle seat.

My mobile phone.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?
To look up, rather than look down. We spend too much time looking at our mobile phones or reading about things. So I always try to look up.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?
One that comes to mind was flying to Tuscany on business, being put into a hotel and the hotel being very apologetic because they had nothing left on the menu. So the chef stayed behind and made my group something to eat and it was magnificent homestyle cooking.

Favourite airport to land at?
It's always nice to come home, so Sydney.

What's the next trip you've got planned?
I'm going to Milan. I try and go every year to the Milan Furniture Fair, which is held in April every year. It's a design-focused fair and I get to look at all the latest inspirations in furniture from around the world.
