My holidays: Julian Dennison

Julian Dennison stars in the Taika Waititi film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

What was your best holiday ever?

Whenever we go to Rukumoana Marae, my family marae up near Morrinsville. All my cousins are there and we have the best time.

Where in the world would you most like to go, and why?

I would like to go to Hawaii one day. It would be awesome to bring my family and just chillax on the beach and enjoy that.

It's not a proper holiday unless ...

Your whanau are there. When your whanau are there then you have a good time and you're not on holiday unless you are having a good time.

What do you find most annoying about travelling?

Jet lag, for sure! I went up to the Sundance Festival (with Sam Neill) in Utah to premiere Hunt for the Wilderpeople and I got it so bad. It makes you super-tired then you are awake really late.

What's the best meal you've had on holiday?

The hangi at the Rukumoana Marae. It's pretty boss.

What's your favourite place in New Zealand, and why?

Apart from the marae it would have to be Taupo. We have whanau there and we love swimming in the lake and hanging out in the hot pools.

What are your travel bag essentials that you just couldn't leave home without?

My iPad so I can Skype home.
