How often do you travel?

I don't usually travel much but since I have been on MKR NZ I have travelled more than ever before. You come across beautiful sights in New Zealand.

Best holiday ever?

A family trip to Queen Charlotte Sounds. We sailed there from Wellington and it was so beautiful. We hardly came across anyone else - it was so peaceful. I definitely appreciate that now more than I did when I was a kid.

Best get-away-from-it-all place to escape to and why?

Definitely Riversdale in Wairarapa. We used to have caravans over there we would spend summer in as a family when I was younger. There's only one shop and the coast. Everyone is so friendly and chilled out. I will be going back there soon.

Favourite city?

My hometown - Wellington. It's the best little city in the world. We are overflowing with culture and arts, which are so important to me. You won't get a better coffee anywhere else, either.

Best meal you've eaten while travelling?

A Moroccan pie. I can't remember where I got it and I wish I could! It was the tastiest thing ever and I still think about it.

Best travel tip?

Take all your favourite music. [My MKR partner] Stella and I always like to sing along in the car when we are bored. Before we went on set we also sang to get into the right mindset. A great tune always makes the time fly by.

Where would you love to return to and why?

Whangamata. It's a cool town and is where my grandparents lived when I was growing up. It's the perfect place for a beach holiday, my favourite kind of getaway.

Worst travel experience?

I know it sounds unlikely, but I've never had a bad travel experience. Now that I say that I must be due for one soon!

Most remote place you've been?

When I was in college I went on a school trip to New Caledonia. We stayed on a farm in the middle of nowhere which had goats and not much else. It was such a different lifestyle from what I am used to but I love animals and enjoyed myself.

What do you hate about travelling?

When you are stuck with people in a rush. I want to get out and see what's going on, wherever I am. I love looking in the op shops, something I picked up from my mum. It's about enjoying the trip, not racing to the finish.

It's not a proper holiday unless . . .
There's an overly competitive game of backyard cricket.

Where is your next holiday?

I'm hoping to get some time off early next year to have a break. I would just like to unwind somewhere chilled out. A bach holiday is my style.
