What was your greatest holiday?

Going to the Coromandel with my family when I was about 10. We never had much money and that was one of the few times we actually went away, so it was pretty special

And the worst?

I went to Bahrain for some shows a few years ago. It was 50C and it didn't help that I'd had a massive few nights in London before I got there, so my body didn't know what had hit it. Spent about a month in bed after that.

If we bump into you on holiday, what are you most likely to be doing?

Hanging with the locals. Eating. Taking too many photos. Trying to speak the local language, badly.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done when travelling?

Entered an underground fight club on Phi Phi Island in Thailand a couple years ago. They put me up against an actual K1 fighter. Needless to say, the fight didn't last long.

Knowing the wi-fi password of every bar/hotel/museum etc, I go to.

What's the best travel tip you've ever been given?

Don't enter an underground fight club.

What was the most memorable meal you've had while travelling?

Food is probably the main part of travelling for me, so there's too many to mention but I can't look past any family barbecue when I go back to Chile. Eyeball tacos in Mexico also stand out and I almost ordered a whale steak in Tokyo until my common sense kicked in.

What's the best thing you've brought back from a trip?

A girlfriend.

Favourite airport to land at?

Wellington Airport, as that's my hometown and I love watching people who don't fly there often freak out when there's a bit of wind upon landing. Internationally, I'd probably say Singapore. It's like a city in itself.

What's the next trip you've got planned?

Hopefully taking my daughter to Chile for the first time in a few months. She'll be 1 and at the perfect cuteness for my family to lose the plot over her. Also planning on doing Argentina and the US while over there.
