Kiwis make most of cheap Fiji flights

New Zealand airlines are having to schedule more flights and use bigger planes as bargain-hunting Kiwis make the most of cheap deals to Fiji.

About 15,000 New Zealanders have paid more than $8 million since the deals went on offer just a few weeks ago at around $400 cheaper than the usual price.

Air Pacific spokesman Glen Ormsby is astounded at the response to the deals, saying airlines were expecting 10,000 bookings at the very most.

Mr Ormsby says New Zealanders have a great affinity with Fiji as a travel destination.

The cheap deals finish at the end of this month.
