The Cadbury Chocolate Carnival in Dunedin is choc-full of events based around the city's favourite indulgence. Science experiments with chocolate, chocolate sculpting and costume, a chocolate climbing wall and the annual Jaffa Race down Baldwin St are some of the activities scheduled. It runs July 12 to 19.

Stars in the sky The Matariki Solstice Fair runs on June 28 and 29 at Wairarapa's Clareville Showgrounds. This huge event features stalls, food, skydivers, a fireworks display, a stunt riding display and entertainment. It starts at 2pm on Saturday and at 5pm there's a presentation from Matariki storytellers, including an astronomer from Stonehenge Aotearoa. Entry is by gold coin.

Mountain of movies The New Zealand Mountain Film Festival runs July 4 to 8 in Wanaka. Activities include films, award nights, workshops and speakers, an art exhibition, a gear trade show, ice sculpturing competition and a book auction.

Its available to in-house guests and Park'n'Ride visitors. A shuttle bus service between the resort and Methven is also planned.
