Given the huge growth in seakayaking for recreation and marine "tramping," there are surprisingly few books on the subject.

Loots' guide is therefore welcome and full of useful information, no matter where the activity is pursued.

Loots is South African but includes New Zealand in his list of good seakayaking localities. He seems unaware, however, that two New Zealanders, John Dowd and Paul Caffyn, are perhaps the two most celebrated modern seakayakers.
