Customers at a UK airport will be in for a surprise today as the place is transformed to celebrate the birthday of the late Freddie Mercury.

A young Mercury spent time working as a baggage handler at London's Heathrow Airport and in honour of his birthday today baggage handlers at Terminal 5 have been dressing up in his image.

Not only this, but the handlers been performing Mercury-inspired dance moves - choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor choreographer Lyndon Lloyd.

In footage released by British Airways, the handlers shock crowds as they bust out the iconic moves next to a bag collection point.

The Queen inspired changes are also in place today to help promote upcoming movie Bohemian Rhapsody - a biographical film directed by Bryan Singer which chronicles the rockstar's meteoric rise to fame.

Other changes at the airport include Queen songs on arrivals boards and the promise of Queen memorabilia on display next month.

What's more any customer who is called Freddie, Frederick or the legend's real name, Farrokh and who is departing from Terminal 5 will be invited along with their traveling companions to use the British Airways first class lounge.

Adam Dewey, Baggage Manager at British Airways, who stars in the video, said: "Freddie Mercury is an undisputed rock legend and it has been an absolute blast planning his birthday celebrations at Heathrow Airport, where he once worked.

"Myself and the other baggage handlers taking part have put everything into these dance routines and we can't wait to see the faces on holidaymakers when they strut their stuff in the arrivals hall.

"The new film Bohemian Rhapsody has proved a great inspiration for all of us and we can't wait to be hot-stepping our way to the premiere next month."

The film traces Mercury's rise from his unlikely beginnings and features scenes at Heathrow, where he worked while living in Feltham.

Virinder Bansal, Baggage Service Manager at Heathrow, who also stars in the video, said: "Freddie Mercury was a truly British icon and I am delighted to Break Free and celebrate his iconic life with my colleagues.
