EXPLORE
The
Rose Test Garden
is in full bloom from April to October, with more than 7000 luscious rose bushes. More than a century ago a forward-thinking gardener convinced the local government to plant European roses to safeguard against losing any species during the bombings of World War I. The result? Portland: The City of Roses.
WATCH
Pre-visit you must watch comedy fave Portlandia to get to grips with the general hipster vibe of the city. The Ace Hotel resides in the old Clyde Building in downtown Portland and is the inspiration for episode the "Deuce Hotel". Rooms may not feature free typewriters or magically appearing sink faucets, but the real life hotel is almost a parody of its own hipness.
