Flying from Dubai to Bali with Emirates

Nicholas Jones flies aboard Emirates flight EK360 from Dubai to Bali.

The plane: A Boeing B777-300.

Class: Business.

Price: Economy class fares are from $1179, Business Class from $3739.

My seat: 1D. The Business section is two on each aisle side and three in the middle, meaning there's a bit less room than in the A380 business section. The plane feels a bit more dated. But these are minor quibbles when the seat reclines and lets you lie completely flat.

On time: Yes.

Fellow passengers: Up this end there seem to be a mix of well-heeled Emiratis and Europeans.

How full: The plane has eight First Class seats, 42 in Business and 304 in Economy. The Business section is full.

Entertainment: A huge selection of movies and even live TV. We're flying the day of the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, so my screen stays on CNN.

Service: Very good. Being upfront by the galley gives a glimpse into just how hard the attendants work. It's strange to get white tablecloth service on an airplane.

Food and drink: Champagne as we take our seats is it for me as, after a bit of CNN I'm soon on my back and asleep.

Toilets: Clean throughout the flight. Aftershave and hand cream a bonus.

Luggage: Business Class passengers can check up to 40kg. Up to 10 pieces of luggage can be checked so long as the total weight is below that limit.

Airport experience: Our group is upgraded to Emirates' First Class lounge at Dubai, across the way from where mere Business Class travellers are kept. The main difference seems to be the exclusivity — the huge space is almost empty and chairs and loungers very well spaced. I take up the offer of a free 15-minute massage at the in-lounge spa then find myself more limber than normal as I aimlessly scroll through Twitter.

Would I fly again: Definitely.
