There's plenty more to Dallas than JFK, finds Megan Singleton.
We went to Dallas to stand on the grassy knoll, but found there is more to the city than JFK.
1. 16th Floor Museum But first things first, you can't visit Dallas and not stand on the grassy knoll. It's eerily the same as it was in 1963 and the sixthfloor of the Texas School Book Depository, where gunman Lee Harvey Oswald took aim, is now the museum that covers President John F. Kennedy's final days. It's chilling and morbidly fascinating at the same time.
2. Baseball Oh, how I love watching Americans watching sport, so as it was baseball season we bought tickets to the Dallas Rangers v Chicago White Sox at Globe Life Park. It's about a half-hour taxi ride away (this is when Uber comes into its own). But it's more than just a game, the whole event is such fun. Matua wines was advertising on the digital signage - and the food is a lot better than Eden Park.

3. Bishop Art District A hidden gem that has popped on to the scene for discerning shoppers and diners. It used to be the city's busiest trolley stop in the 1960s and though only two blocks long, it has 60 boutiques and galleries, bars and a handful of great restaurants. It's the perfect spot for a cocktail, an afternoon beer, brunch or dinner - and you might find live music or even a street market under way.

4. Trinity Grove What started as an incubator restaurant concept is now a permanent city block of about 10 dining and drinking establishments. Kitchen LTO (Limited Time Only) is paving the way in a new style of business where a young chef is appointed and mentored for six months before a new one takes over. There are also craft beer bars and even an old-fashioned ribs and barbecue restaurant with a live cowboy band.
5. Six Flags Out near the baseball park Six Flags over Texas is one of the best roller-coaster theme parks in the US, with over 100 rides and attractions. Adrenalin junkies will want to ride the Titan, New Texas Giant and the Shock Wave. It gets hot in Dallas so go on the water rides - and get there early to avoid long lines.
