Far North campgrounds close for winter

The Department of Conservation has closed its Rarawa and Spirits Bay campgrounds for maintenance on tracks and other recreational resources.

The two Far North campgrounds will reopen on October 1. The DoC campgrounds at Tapotupotu and Maitai Bay remain open.

The public will still have access to Spirits Bay for fishing and walking, and several toilets will remain open along with the shower block. The road to Rarawa beach will be unaffected.
