Travel.co.nz has launched the Travel Essist website to offer people travelling abroad a secure site to store personal details and electronic documents such as scanned air tickets and passports. The service costs $20.

Some people already email documents to themselves using their existing email addresses, but those sites are not encrypted and offer less protection.
