A technical fault at Auckland Airport reportedly left travellers stuck in long queues this evening.
Graeme Mead told the Herald the airport began announcing its bag system had gone wrong at 4.40pm.
“The queues are huge,” he said. “Like a Christmas Day traffic jam.”
However, while Auckland Airport confirmed tothe Herald that check-in wait times had been delayed this evening, they said it was only for 10-15 minutes.
An airport spokesperson said there had been a technical fault related to an outage for check-in software, which is provided to airlines through a third party.
As a result, the airport used “back-up procedures”.
“Systems are returning to normal to check-in travellers at the international terminal,” the spokesperson said.
“We thank travellers for their patience during the busy holiday travel season.”
