Couple kicked out of Paihia Airbnb for being naked in spa pool

What's unacceptable behaviour from an Airbnb guest?

For one bach owner, the line gets crossed when you go into the spa pool naked.

Lauren Eve says she and her partner were "unceremoniously kicked out" of their Airbnb accommodation in Paihia after getting naked in the spa pool.

Eve posted about the episode on her Instagram account from the South Island.

While in Paihia, the couple decided to watch the sunrise naked from the spa pool. The owners of the house kicked the couple out, with only a few hours to pack their bags.

According to the traveller, the owners used a spa pool timing rule as the reason to send the couple packing but she believes it was only because they knew they were naked in there.

Speaking to Stuff, Eve said the hosts were "aggressive".

"One of them then followed us around screaming about how it's disgusting and what if they found a pube et cetera for an hour while we packed up," she told Stuff.

The incident happened last month and Eve says a nudity clause has since been added to the lodge's listing.

She claims being naked in the pool is actually far more sanitary than wearing clothes.

"Togs carry a range of different bacteria into that kind of facility on top of what people bring in with their bodies. A slither of fabric protects nothing. The issue is not one of hygiene. How do they think people shower? Do they expect couples to remain clothed in the bed?"

The couple say that, since being naked is not illegal, a policy against nudity should be firmly expressed in the listing. Additionally, the guests should also expect their privacy to be respected.

The couple ended up being at the lodge for 12 hours and were then forced to pay for last-minute accommodation and "made to feel awful".
