Comedian Nicole Byer claims she found poo inside an airline blanket she was given on a Delta flight

This might make you think twice about getting comfortable under an airline blanket ever again.

On a recent Delta Air Lines flight, passenger Nicole Byer opened her airline-issued blanket to find someone had left a bowel movement in the folds.

The American comedian went on to post a picture of the disgusting discovery on Twitter, writing: "Dear @Delta the grossest thing happened on my flight. I opened my blanket & there was a literal piece of s**t. How does that happen?"

To make things even more disturbing, Byer claimed the blanket had been sealed in plastic - which suggested it had not been cleaned before being folded and prepared for the next flight.

"I mean what a gross customer to s**t in a blanket ... but truly how did an employee just fold it up and put it in a bag?" she tweeted.

She also explained the poor quality of her photo by writing, "I would have taken a better picture of the crusty s**t. But it was crusty s**t and I didn't care to get close to it again."

Delta responded via Twitter, writing: "Appreciate you calling it to our attention. Please reach out to the FA on-board for assistance."

Byer responded: "Are you kidding? Of course I told the flight attendant. I'm emotionally scarred and this is all you ask? THERE WAS S**T IN MY BLANKET!"

She added: "I guess now I'll be cold on all my flights because I can never use a blanket again BC A LITERAL PIECE OF S**T WAS IN MY LAST BLANKET".

While not everyone believed the incident was genuine, Byer later said a flight attendant "confirmed there was indeed s**t in the blanket."

A Delta Air Lines spokesman said in a statement that the airline was taking the complaint very seriously, but could not confirm if the claim had been verified.

Byer later tweeted that the airline had apologised, refunded her ticket and given her 50,000 airmiles.
