Balloons of fire

Dozens of hot air balloons take to the air over Hamilton during Balloons Over Waikato, April 5-9. Local and overseas balloonists will demonstrate their skills in a range of competitions, making a fantastic sight for spectators. Activities centre on Innes Common at Hamilton Lake, with sunrise the best time to see mass lift-offs. On Friday April 7 there's a street parade at 6pm, and the magnificent night glow is on Saturday April 8, 4pm-7.45pm. This involves top entertainers, a balloon glow show and a fireworks finale over the lake. Free admission.
