The Kaikohe AP&H Association is promising a great family day out when it stages its annual show for the 90th time on Saturday.
There would be all sorts of things for children to see and do, secretary Margaret Osborne said, including baking, floral artistry and numerous hobbies, scarecrow-making and gardenin a wheelbarrow competitions (for adults too).
Entertainment would be provided by Rob Bloor with his Kiwi Circus of Fire and Giant Bubbles, music with Jack Tane and a performance by DDF Dance Troupe.
Woodchopping was returning, shearing was expected to be as popular as ever, and the area set aside for small animals, rare breeds and animal petting area was also expected to draw a crowd.
"The usual equestrian and livestock events will be all go," Ms Osborne added.
"The miniature horses are always cute and the horse and buggy events are great to watch.
There will also be pet calf and lamb competitions, trade, commercial and craft stalls, a variety of kai and refreshments, and Top Energy will be running buses from the showgrounds to its geothermal power station at Ngawha for those who would like to see it."
The schedule of competition classes can be downloaded from www.ras.org.nz.
