Yet again the weather gods rained on another major Hawke's Bay event when the HB Vintage Machinery Club held its Junction Expo at Takapau March 25-26.
It rained steadily Saturday morning then eased and drizzled Sunday morning, and overcast in the afternoon.
Nevertheless a crowd of 5000 including exhibitors attended the expo over the weekend clad in coats, gumboots and carrying umbrellas. They were not disappointed by what they came to see - a huge array of vintage machinery mixing with the newest on four to eight to 20 wheels.
"Exhibitors came from as far south as Clinton and as far north as Whangarei," President of the Hawke's Bay Vintage Machinery club Neil Harrington said. "I have been attending these events for almost 30 years and had the most ever fun at this one."
The centre ring always featured an event. If it was not a particular brand of tractor touring around it, there were events like a World War I Military Horse exhibition within it.
