Farm Systems Specialist for DairyNZ Paul Bird spoke to The Country Early Edition's Rowena Duncum saying it is fortunate that so many farmers are willing to share their information.
Over the last three years DairyNZ's budget case study farmers have been sharing their budgets and their plans for the year online.

Their recent mid-season updates (completed in mid-December and Jan) paint a picture of just how tough 2017/18 has been with a wet spring and a hot, dry start to summer.
This is a long term study which doesn't just look at one season in isolation says Paul.
