We've had laptop, palmtop and pocket PCs. Now Casio thinks we should be wearing computer devices on our wrists as well.
The latest additions to Casio's "Wrist Network" range of watches include an MP3 player, digital camera and a PC-compatible organiser, which will be available through distributor Monaco Corporation
from September.
At a recommended retail priceof $799, the WMP-1V wrist audio player is capable of storing up to 33 minutes of music in the MP3 format, and playing it back through headphones.
Meanwhile, Casio claims the $499 WQV-1 wrist camera is the world's first camera on a watch, but the debut model will take only black and white pictures. Up to 100 photos may be stored and transferred to a PC via an optional infrared adapter.
Perhaps it is a bit conspicuous for espionage, but as a name and phone number record may be associated with each image, it is ideal for building a catalogue of friends and contacts.
Finally the PC unite personal organiser watch stores up to 680 names and phone numbers, as well as to-do lists and schedules. At $399 the organiser includes an infrared adapter to download to a PC, where it can be imported into Microsoft Outlook or the Casio PC unite application.
