Touring through the cybergardens

Web pages can hardly do justice to a garden in all its glory, but you will find a surprising number of virtual gardens and garden tours on the web.

The gardens featured range from quite modest suburban gardens to the major botanical gardens around the world.

New York Botanical Garden: It's autumn in New York right now, so the deciduous trees in this 250-acre park are spectacular.

Garden Gallery: A listing of local garden homepages. Some make you wonder why they bother but there are a few gems tucked in there.

Moosey's Country Garden: This award-winning site has been going for several years and is one of the most detailed and well-executed examples of its kind.

The tour includes hundreds of photos of the two-acre site located 20km from Christchurch and is described as an informal rambling country garden with an emphasis on foliage plants. There are also roses, shelter belts of gums and wooded areas.

The Garden Gallery: This forum allows users to upload images of their gardens and favourite plants.

The photos are certainly arriving thick and fast, but you have to wonder whether anyone has the time to look at them.
