A collection of Northland-based Maori have joined forces to build the first iwi-run broadband network.
Named Taitokerau Networks, the consortium hopes to build the network to run alongside the Government's rural broadband initiative.
The project - due to begin next month and completed in five months - is designed to stimulate Northland's regional economy.
