New Zealand has evened the score in the PC shoot-em-up strategy game Quake by beating seven Australian teams to take out the 1999 Village Challenge.
New Zealand's Dust to Dust (D2D)clan battled last week against Australia for the honour of best strategists and destroyers of the enemy playing
the networked version of the popular PC game. Australia won the inaugural Village Challenge last year.
D2D players Cinclant, Orange9mm, JB, Mirage and Z-Jake were in it "for guts and glory and fun" during a series of play-offs at Sydney's WebFeet Internet Cafe. The team now faces challenges from Germany, the world's number two Quake team and Ireland.
D2D was sponsored across the Tasman by New Zealand's Ultimate PCs to take away the eGame Multiplay Quake 1 Trans Tasman championships by beating Australia's finalists, clan Reborn.
